Y10 Careers - Mock Interviews and Work Experience Information for Parents/Carers

This term our Y10 students will be taking part in a number of careers focussed activities. Students have been learning about CVs in their Ethics classes and have been supported to produce their own CV.

On 30 April and 1 May Y10 students will be taking part in 30 minute mock interviews with external partners. There will be work done during form time to help them prepare themselves and manage their nerves. This is likely to be the first experience of an interview and will include a period of time to reflect on the experience and talk about the process of recruitment which should be helpful to them in the future. Do reassure your children not to be too nervous – the employers will be kind!

The final aspect of this careers journey will be the work experience week taking place 8-12 July, when our students will have the opportunity to experience the real world of work and find out more about a career that interests them for the future.

Work experience can be a life-changing encounter for some students, they will likely come back to school feeling more grown up and knowing what they do (or don’t) want to explore as a career.

This whole process will give them lots to write about in Y11 when they will be submitting applications for post-16 choices of sixth form, college, apprenticeships etc.

Year 9 Options - Validating your Child's Choices

We have completed the options process for choosing Key Stage 4 courses for September. This included an interview with a senior leader and follow-up conversations where appropriate. We have shared your child’s four choices via a letter and the parent app. Please can you complete the Microsoft form to confirm your child’s choices by Friday 26^th April.

New Pedestrian Crossing

We are delighted to confirm that after years of lobbying with Sheffield City Council, agreement has now been made for two new zebra crossings to be placed on Dyche Lane to help ensure our students and families are kept safe. We hope to see the works completed in the Summer holidays, ready for our re-opening in September 24. This will allow safe crossings for all students and will hopefully reduce the amount of parked traffic on double yellow lines in this area, during school opening and closing times.
